T4 and T3 are produced in the human thyroid gland by the iodination and coupling of the amino acid tyrosine. T4 contains four iodine atoms and is formed by the coupling of two molecules of diiodotyrosine (DIT). T3 contains three atoms of iodine and is formed by the coupling of one molecule of DIT with one molecule of monoiodotyrosine (MIT). Both hormones are stored in the thyroid colloid as thyroglobulin. Slideshow: Misdiagnosis: Righting The Wrong Misdiagnosis: Righting The Wrong Thyroid hormone preparations belong to two categories: (1) natural hormonal preparations derived from animal thyroid, and (2) synthetic preparations. Natural preparations include desiccated thyroid and thyroglobulin. Desiccated thyroid is derived from domesticated animals that are used for food by man (either beef or hog thyroid), and thyroglobulin is derived from thyroid glands of the hog. The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has standardized the total iodine content of natural preparations. Thyroid USP contains not less than (NLT) 0.17 percent and not more than (NMT) 0.23 percent iodine, and thyroglobulin contains not less than (NLT) 0.7 percent of organically bound iodine. Iodine content is only an indirect indicator of true hormonal biologic activity. Liothyronine 25mcg  is the most potent form of thyroid hormone. As a salt of triiodothyronine (T3), it is chemically similar and pharmacologically equivalent to T3. As such, it acts on the body to increase the basal metabolic rate, affect protein synthesis and increase the body’s sensitivity to catecholamines (such as adrenaline) by permissiveness. The thyroid hormones are essential to proper development and differentiation of all cells of the human body. These hormones also regulate protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism, affecting how human cells use energetic compounds. This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This drug may also be used to treat thyroid cancer.Liothyronine should not be used for treating infertility in patients with normal thyroid levels. If you plan to use this product, you must be very cautious and careful, as there is a whole list of warnings and contraindications for receiving Cytomel , which can not be ignored. The list of side effects include (but are not limited to), palpitations, agitation, holding your breath, arrhythmia, sweating, nausea, headaches and impaired metabolism. This is potent hormone, and when used incorrectly, can lead to serious violations in the organism. If you take Cytomel , then remember that its dosage must be increased very slowly. Usually, the first day take 1 tablet 25 mg, then increase the dosage, taking even one tablet every 3 or 4 days, bringing to a maximum dose of 100 mcg. This mode enables the body to adapt to increased levels of thyroid hormones and avoid disruptions. Dosage:It is important to note that the full cycle should not exceed 6 weeks, and it can not be interrupted abruptly.
